Dr. Kithsiri Edirisinghe (MBBS, MSc, MD (Medical Administration), has over 26 years’ experience in the health industry and over 13 years’ experience in the education industry.
He is an experienced medical administrator, managing hospitals ranging from rural to teaching and specialized hospitals in the state sector. He has also established and operationalized a chain of hospitals in the private sector.
Being an expert in Hospital Project Management and Hospital Operational Management, he renders his services as a project consultant for many hospitals and healthcare centers in Sri Lanka, such as the Northern Central Hospital, Jaffna; HEMAS Hospitals, Wattala and Galle; Kottalawala Defence University Hospital; De Zoysa Special Baby Care Center, De Zoysa Maternity Hospital and Universal Hospitals, Sri Lanka.
Dr. Edirisinghe has been involved as an academic in healthcare training and development for over a decade, where he possess a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and he is also a Certified Master Trainer, Australia.
He is also a Visiting Lecturer at the Post Graduate Institute of Medicine (PGIM) Sri Lanka supporting the development of Medical Administrators in their Masters and Doctorate programmes. He has a special interest in the training and development of nursing professionals both in the government and private sector. One of the many highlights and ground breaking records of his career was teaching research to over 2500 government trained nurses. He has also been a great contributor to the College of Administrators where he was also a distinguished member of the Council. He is a frequent contributor as a resource person for the College of Medical Administrators and many other professional forums such as for BioInquirer forums, the Health Informatics Society, Commonwealth Medical Association, Medical Education Conferences and many more.

Inter Professional Learning is advocated for improvement in collaborative practice. This presentation will consider the evidence for its impact and on determining when, how and what to teach Inter Professionally.
She has graduated from Manchester Medical School during an innovative period in curriculum reform in late 1990s, leaving with an interest in medica education. She is pursued this as a career, working at Medical Education Units of the University of Edinburgh, the University of Birmingham. She is now a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen working in the undergraduate medical programme as a member of the Foundations of Clinical Method team. She has an interest in Interdisciplinary working and fostering collaboration and lead two areas of the curriculum that demonstrate this, Inter Professional learning (IPL) and the Medical Humanities Student selected component (SSC). As IPL lead she has worked in collaboration with colleagues within the University of Aberdeen and their partners, Robert Gordon University to develop a realistic and relevant IPL programme with opportunities across all learning environments. Her aim is to inspire health and social care students to foster knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviours for effective collaborative working and to deliver person centred, safe and effective high quality care.

Inter Professional practice - what it looks like through a patient's journey in a UK Neurosurgical Department.
Mr Bodkin has been a consultant neurosurgeon in Aberdeen since 2014.He graduated from Manchester University in 2000 and trained mainly in Edinburgh and Aberdeen. His choice of specialty was heavily influenced by an elective in neurosurgery in Mumbai as a student.He has a special interest in complex spine, facial pain, and neuro-oncology. He has close ties with Aberdeen Medical School where he is regularly involved in teaching and research.He set up the national teaching programme for neurosurgical trainees in Scotland.He is a question writer for the FRCS(Neurosurgery) examination and convenes a preparatory course in Aberdeen for the viva section of the FRCS.

The course instructor is a qualified physiotherapist with more than 15 years of clinical experience in physiotherapy. He is a first physio from India, who is doing research & pursuing Ph.D. in the subject of ‘dry needling’. He is India’s first physio who completed all advanced levels (level 1, 2, 3) in dry needling from GEMT (Australia). He is the first Indian physiotherapist who completed certification in “MSK (musculoskeletal) ultrasound imaging” from S.M.U.G. London, UK. Possess experience & in-depth knowledge of dry needling techniques in treatment of various neuro-ortho-sports conditions. He is a member, American college of sports medicine, USA. He has represented the country at international conferences & conducted various workshops across India & in South East Asia including Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia & Africa (Ethiopia). Recently presented one of his selected research paper at WCPT congress 2017 in Cape Town, South Africa. In June 2016, conducted first dry needling workshop in Europe at London, UK. He has successfully treated more than 3000 patients (documented cases) with dry needling. He is regularly treating patients in his OPD. He has conducted various dry needling course/ workshops to enhance knowledge & skills among physio- community, across India. He has completed his bachelors of physiotherapy in 2001 from Santosh medical college, U.P. & he also completed certification course (C.C.S.P.) in sports physiotherapy from I.P. University Delhi in 2009, followed by his masters in orthopedics (m.p.t.) in 2011. In 2012, he completed all 5 modules of dry needling course from “club-physio” S.A. & registered as a dry needling practitioner in India from dry needling institute. In 2013 he has completed advanced level (level 3) certification in dry needling from GEMT Australia. Became the first Indian physio to complete all 3 levels of dry needling. In 2013, he got enrolled & pursuing Ph.D. from Manav Rachna international university, Faridabad, India. Presented papers & spoken about dry needling at various conferences including WCPT congress 2015, Singapore. In 2016, he was invited by GEMT Australia to assist them in their courses & his efforts were acknowledged by the Robert Di Nadris, Director of GEMT Australia.
